At Bhangarh, mythmaking meets history. It is a ruined town in Alwar which is also rumoured to be a haunted place. But what drew my interest was not the ghost stories but rather the excellent historial value attached to the ruins. Their beleaguered and deplated state not only brings out a sense of nostalgia in the spectator but also takes you back to the old days of glory. The ruins themselves are emblematic, they are bearers of a continuing cycle of creation and destruction. Above all, my images tried to capture a constant craving for the past hidden beneath the ancient structures.
